Greetings, I am writing a paper about professional game development and I was looking for the standard IDE used by most development houses. Is there a standard? Codewarrior, Visual Studio Pro, etc? Thanks!

Most PC developers use Visual Studio. Console developers usually use CodeWarrior.

I believe that most people here use some form of Visual Studdio, be it the fancy-expensive one or an Express version. Many beginners use Dev-C++, and I hear that some people are starting to prefer C::B.

It should be noted that VCExpress is currently free, and trumps codeblocks and devcpp.

Many of the console developers I've worked with use emacs, even when vs.net is available and revert to CodeWarrior/vs.net/gdb for debugging.

I'm not sure if that means emacs is the IDE or CodeWarrior/Vs.net is the IDE:)

Cheers
Chris
