OpenGl flickering - ChangeDisplaySettings

Hi all, I hope you guys know more about the following problem. When I call ChangeDisplaySettings(NULL,0); (when I leave fullscreen mode) there were weird artifacts shown for a short amount of time. As far as I can tell this happens only if there is something in the frontbuffer. The artifacts have the colors of the pixels in the frontbuffer. I think clearing the backbuffer and swapping the buffers before calling ChangeDisplaySettings helped. (I am not sure because the problem doesn't always occur) But I'd like to know if this means that there is something wrong somewhere in my application or if this is normal behaviour. Does this depend on driver or hardware maybe? It also happens in the NeHe's lesson 2 when I start in fullscreen mode and press F1 btw. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance!
