2d games using Direct3D

Hi! I''d like to write a 2D engine using Direct3D, but I don''t really know much about it (except that I have to use TL vertices). CVan anybody tell me something about what render states to use, z-buffer yes/no, and using textures with alpha channels? thx Felix

Check out furby100''s tut on this matter. It''s pretty damn good. I started my game without the z-buffer off... but ended up importing 3D objects an so turned it back on to do the 3D stuff.
