what is tile terrain

hi guys, these days, i was confused with the tile terrain, what is tile terrain? can give me some passage or example about it?

Have you actually considered using google or at least searching this forum? There are plenty of related discussions.

In a 2D game, it usually refers to the act of making many different small "tiles" for the ground and sticking them all together. You can have grass, dirt, building, tree, etc tiles that represent the world. This is much more efficient than saving huge images of the background.

In a 3D project, I assume it is a similar situation. You can have 3D terrain pieces that are stuck together. Google for and article on Dungeon Siege. This used a technique similar to this.
