Can't use Direct3D7 with the DirectX8 SDK!
I''m trying to recompile a program I had been working on that uses Direct3D7. But now that I''ve installed the DirectX8 SDK, d3dvec.inl is making tons of errors. D3D_OVERLOADS is defined. What the hell is going on? I can''t run my program now!

Well, OK, I figured it out: dsound.h defines D3DVECTOR among many other types, and so does d3dtypes.h. There are #ifdefs to prevent the types from being declared twice, but the dsound versions don''t have all the overloaded operators, thus causing every line in d3dvec.inl to generate an error.
Bottom line: You can''t use previous versions of DirectX with the DX8 SDK installed, unless you omit dsound.h from your program (or, conversely, use dsound but omit d3d). Microsoft should have created a dsound8.h file for DX8, but they did not, which was stupid.
