Not to waste my first post on just a boring introduction, I thought I'd ask what's the demographic of the people who frequent gamedev? Are most people just game developer wannabes like me, or indie game developers, or are there actually people here who are in successful game companies? Do people like Sid Mier or Richard Garriott come here? Anyone here written any game development books? Or famous in some other way other than growing a third testicle? :)

It depends on the forum. The Lounge doesn't attract that many professionals; GP&T has a lot. IIRC, there's also some industry professionals who don't really participate in the forums but who have written articles.

Of course he took part! He had to come in and say "whoa" seven times!

Ugh, tell me about it. That was a Q&A session I'd rather not remember.

What is the matrix?

In terms of computer graphics, it's a linear transformation applied to vertices.

What?

It modifies geometry, like moving it around and rotating and scaling it.

Dude.

Uhhh... so you get it?

What is the matrix?

I'm the author of the very famous Gammaplex.

Just kidding, it's not famous at all, but I still am the author of it :D

You might like to take a look at some of the Developer Journals and see what some of the GDNet+ folk are working on. A couple of interesting ones that spring to mind include Ysaneya and Poo Bear, but most of the rest are also pretty great to take a look at.
