i wanted to ask if it is worth the effort to upgrade to the newer sdk. i'm currently working on a little game project and i don't want to screw everything by upgrading to a new sdk and having to rewrite half the code. what do you think? is it essential? or are there just a few new additions for professional gamedevelopers? ( i wouldn't say i'm a professional, perhaps low to mid range, but nothing more ^^ ) i'm currently at http://msdn.microsoft.com/directx/sdk/, reading the list of news but i haven't found anything of interest to me.

Then dont change.

I only change when there is something in a newer SDK that interests me. New samples, updated D3D10 stuff etc...

I'd only consider updating to a new SDK mid-project if it fixed any important bugs or changed/added/improved any features that I'm heavily using. In general, changing ANY SDK just for the hell of it mid-project is asking for trouble.
