I have a new problem :) For my custom web control i created a new property:
public class myWebControl : Panel
 myWebControl parent_ = null;

 myWebControl Parent2
  set{ parent_ = value; }

The new property nicely appears in the VS Designer, and i can set the value by selecting one of the existing myWebControl objects from a drop-down list. After doing this, the VS Designer shows an error message in the control: an unhandled exception has occured in "Parent2.Set", the control's string representation cannot be converted to an actual myWebControl object. What does that mean, and how can i get the correct object i need?
