Try my iso strategy / rpg
I am working on an isometric strategy game with RPG elements. It is called "Trail of Destruction" and it is about giant monsters destroying cities. The game is still in progress, most of the art is placeholder, and it has a limited number of missions available at this point.
Anyone who feels like trying it and giving suggestions or feedback would be doing me a huge favor.

Thank you!
Did you cut and paste the url in my post? Just curious..

Looks like a fun little game, I'll have to try it out (right now I'm too busy with Bang! Howdy... ummm, I mean, working. Too busy working).
If there's any suggestion I can make without actually playing it, it is the quote on the front page: "You can play either as a monster or as the humans, although being the monster is much more fun." If this is true, and it's more fun to play as the monsters, you should either a) focus on the monsters and not even worry about letting people play humans or b) spend some time making the humans fun as well.
I'll give more feedback after I get done rustlin'... ummm... working.

yea page blank for me too, notice that Iexplorer show error icon after it said done loading
Thanks for your feedback, this is already shown me something crucial that I don't understand.
If I type "www.trailofdestruction.com" into my Firefox brwoser, I get my web page.
If I type the same thing into IE, I get a blank page. I just use Firefox so I never noticed this.
Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this?

Good point about being just being the monster. I was hoping to try to develop both sides, but I have focues on the monster(s) side because I think it is more useful.
Wow -- Huge lesson learned! Try your home page on multiple browsers.
I had a bug in the html that firefox accepted, IE didn't.
Thank you for your help and patience, and if any of you still have the energy to try and download a game, you will have my grattitude.
Thanks again.

This little game looks really cool and has an even better concept! It reminds me of an old SNES game where you played as a Monster vs. another Monster in a city and the local military attacked both of you (typical japanese godzilla scenario [lol]). I like your idea more though.
Too bad I cant play it because it crashed without warning when I selected a scenario (Helena City or something)... [WindowsXP, AMD 1Ghz, 512MB RAM, GeForce 2]
I also recommend you (besides fixing the bug) to use another file format than bitmap to store your images. BMP is really huge compared to other formats and your bmp folder is about 64MB big. But in the end it doesnt really matter of course.
I hope you fix the bug! [smile]

Phex
[EDIT:] I just recognized that it is only possible to start your game 5 times. I dont like such concepts. There is always a way to override such a mechanism, but instead of being able to actually play the game, you have to spend your time searching for entries in your registry. Thats not fun. And a demo should be fun.
Are you going to sell your game or what is the purpose behind this?

Hey Phex--
Thanks for trying the game. The minimum system requirements are:
P4 1.5 Ghz or better
Graphics capable or 1024x768x24
Windows 98 or later.
A GeForce2 oucht to be able to handle the graphics, except I haven't tested one.
It doesn't exactly make sense that my computer takes so much CPU system power, but you are the second person to have a problem and both had a low speed AMD. I am not sure if the problem is how the AMD handles threading, or if it is another problem. I have trouble getting my hands on an old AMD machine, so it just seems easier not to support those.
You are right that .bmps are very big, but since the whole game is currently an 8 MB download, I am not worrying about that.
You should be able to play 10 times, and I put that in as a test. For some reason I think it double counts crashes. Frankly the only people have noticed the limit on the number of times you can play are the people who can't play it at all. My goal is to get people to play ten levels and then say they want to play again, but that has not happened yet.
