The reason we want to do this is so we can use our own shaders on meshes instead of the standard material used by directX 9. So. Is there any way to get the name of each material used for a mesh in an .X file? Preferably from maya, either 6 or 7. We have currently dont have time to create an own file format, but if anyone has an idea of another way to identify materials we are very happy for every suggestion.
