Things 'associated' with the device

When you load a .X mesh, it gets 'associated' with a device (true with other things besides .X meshes, too). I have two devices rendering to two different windows, and I want to load the same .X file, textures, etc, to both scenes. Is it at all possible to share the data so that it doesn't get loaded twice? Thanks. P.S. Yes, I know using 2 devices in unconventional; please refrain from suggesting alternatives -- using 2 devices is essential for me.
