photoshop - how to border fonts?

i cant figure out how to do this, but im sure there's gotta be a way. im trying to give my fonts a border around them with a different color. how can this be done? im sure it can be done with a single click.

Well, make your text the normal way.

Then, you can do one of several things - either right click your text layer in the Layers tab and choose Blending options, and then choose Stroke,

or

select your text layer normally (left click) in the Layers tab. Then, click the (f) symbol at the bottom left of the Layers box and choose Stroke.

Both of these should get you to the place where you can edit the Stroke values and get your text outline!

I'm using Photoshop CS, but I'm sure it's the same, or close enough to the same, that you can modify the directions for other versions.
