I'm currently in the middle of developing a networking site which has some similarities to MySpace (which I'm not familiar with).
This is aimed at a different market however. My client is paying me and I originally estimated it as 32 days of work (including some other stuff which is unique to our site). Most of this is now complete (although some things have changed)
I've no idea how much of MySpace's functionality this encompasses, but we do have image uploading and private messaging, search functions etc.

Yea, like I said though, I have alot of planning on paper to do yet before even attempting but I do have some simple yet usable features in mind.
My thoughts behind it would be to make it as a self promotion type site or Independent Media:
Just a quick mockup* Name may have to change.
But also used as just a regular profile/chat type site.
