how to create an x file
q)I am using 3d modelling software like terragen, blender and ltd3 . Do you need to create the x file using some other converter or , should the option be availabe to save as an x file.
if you create a terrain in an x file, is it just a matter of loading a static mesh and basically traversing it with translation matrix oprations (eg directx)
I did this with another x file and the image looks pixelated.
I think I wil take an dx9 sample program and strip it back, there isn't many tutorials to follow for terrain with c++.

I think the converter found in the DX SDK is for 3D studio Max files.
For blender there is an exporter available which will export your blender file to the x format. It is already available in blender after installation.
However, I'm not sure how proficient it is as I just played around a little bit with blender and didn't export more than some static cubes :-D. So I can't really say if it will correctly export animations etc...
