non power of two terrain lod

hello i'm a noob, and i have a been looking for a terrain lod algorithm that will work for a non-power of two maps. I want to use the dted files which are broken down in seconds like (3 seconds (1201*1201), 30 seconds (121*121), etc...). I found a quad tree version which seemed easy, but then i realized that it only applies to POT. So i found some other algorithms involving diamonds, triangles, and other shapes, but i can't decide which one will be ideal for me. Any insight or advance on this topic will be appreciated. thanks in advance.

i advise to stick to powerof2, its easier + faster
u can either resize the map to POT
or select a POT sized subregion
