Resource data file format/library
I apologize if this has been done to death, but I haven't found anything useful when searching the forums...
What's a good cross-platform resource file format for game purposes? You know, like a single file that bundles several data files in some hierarchy...
I'm thinking of going with zlib, but I really don't know what else is out there. As long as it's easy to get stuff to load without having to write temporary files (eck), and it plays reasonably well with SDL, I'm happy. Is there something better than zlib out there for this purpose?
Actually, there's one called PhysFS. =D I think it's a zlib wrapper. There's a basic usage tutorial text on the website I think. I used it once, but I only wanted to try it out. And it works. I don't know exactly how to read files, etc. But I do plan on using it in my engine that I'm working on. =)

Hmmm, eeeenteresting. I like how multiple PhysFS files together in a dir actually look like a single structure, and that you can override by actually putting files into the dir itself. Though I need to find out how it handles collisions (same name, same path, different PhysFS files brought together). I also have to make sure I can get it to work seamlessly between linux and windows.
