2D Vector Maths, getting started...
Today I had an exam on 2D Vector maths, and without doubt, I failed it hard. Really hard.
The hand outs from the teacher are pretty much cryptic, and I'm not the only one having troubles with it. Since I failed the exam I can't do the next term for maths because it's focused on 3D(Which surprisingly relies on the 2D vector math).
I'm looking for tutorials, reference material and articles which go into 2D vector math for the NON-MATHEMATICIAN(e.g. without using math symbols all over the place without explaining what they're for).
I'm looking for stuff on: basic vectors, rotating, mirroring, etc. same with matrices, etc.
There are a lot of crap articles swarming the net, so I'm hoping on the fact that you guys have some nice pile of bookmarks of good sites with articles on these subjects. Also, having the 3D vector maths around would be nice too :).
Thanks, Toolmaker
Some gdnetter posted this site a while ago. It teaches everything from Linear Algebra to Calculus 'in layman terms'. Good luck next time!
If you're serious about studying, there's probably no good substitute for a good math book. The reason for this is the large number of sample exercises you get with good textbooks. From my experience, math has to be reinforced a lot. You can read all the articles out there but if you don't practice applying the concepts, you are not getting anywhere. But if you solve ten to twenty exercises for every type of vector problem, starting with the basics such as addition and moving on to cross products and further, you will probably ace all your vector exams.
I don't have any links lying around but I looked over a few articles just now and this one seemed like a relatively gentle introduction - lots of diagrams for the non-maths person to look at.
