How do I learn the DirectX APIs?

I made a few games using DirectX but the problem was that I used an enigne and all the APIs were hidden from my view. All I used was functions which wrapped up all the low level DirectX calls.

If it was just a wrapper library, it should be no problem to learn directx, because you should know the usual steps to create and use directx. You just have to find the fiting direct x function. Hence, read the documentation, as TFS_Waldo said. [lol]

I will agree! The first book is great - easy reading.

Booksamillion.com already has the second in stock. I pre-ordered it from Amazon and am still waiting :S
