Hello I wonder if there is any GOOD tutorials how to create web services with Java? (using TomCat and Windows XP/2003). What libraries are needed in order to compile a web service program? How is everything set up? (axis etc). Kind Regards

Take a look at Apache axis' homepage, there's a lot of information there.

Basically, you need to download the axis distribution, and copy-paste the axis folder (which is a webapp in itself) to the tomcat's webapps folder. Simple as that.

You also have to copy some .jar files from the axis' distribution into tomcat's /common/lib folder - these are the libraries that both axis and web-service-enabled applications will have to use in order to call web-services.

After that, you just have to write common Java classes conforming to the web-service's standards, and deploy them into the axis folder. Then, rename all ".java" to ".jws" - and from now on, it will be recompiled by axis everytime you make a change to it, just like tomcat treats JSP files.
