The Blob: downloadable 3D student game
This game was really fun! The cartoon-ish artwork, animations and the 'blob' effect (squishy main character) are really well done. The music really brought the game together. I had a blast!
The mechanics of the game played well too. Collision detection was top notch, as I didn't get stuck inside of world objects like I sometimes do in other games. I have a P4-1.8GHz processor, Windows 2000, 1gb RAM and a Radeon 9600 Pro. The game only really slowed down in one area, where I could see a long stretch of river (I think the shader that performed the cool water effect was what slowed down my game). The ramps and air currents worked, and the controls were smooth. IMHO, having the option to use a key to move forward instead of having to move the mouse forward to move my blob character would have been nice... The game almost feels like it was intended to be played using a trackball for the controller.
The only problem I had was where I went all the way to the right side of the map (right-click to bring up the town map) and jumped over an INKT van - I jumped over a fence behind the van and got stuck. The blob character was full-sized (the 'ink meter' was full), so I think it was perfectly sized to get stuck between the walls of two buildings, the fence itself, and the invisible wall that creates the boundaries of the game world... I just rolled around just above the ground, so I couldn't touch the ground to jump out of this area. This really isn't a bug, it's more of a simple level design problem. If there was a big building here instead of a recess, then there wouldn't have been anywhere I could have jumped into to get stuck.
That's a lot of game for four months of work. [grin] Awesome game!

I was wondering whether or not this game supports gamepads/joysticks. In Katamari Damacy, the ball is moved around by pushing the analog sticks in the direction you want to move (in the same manner as tank treads). Any chance of this being put into play?
Hey I downloaded this games from http://www.fun-motion.com/
It installed successfully, but it freezes my computer completely during loading. I think it got to the 3/4 mark on loading.
My current system specs are posted on my xfire profile (at the bottom)

ANd I have the latest version of DirectX installed. I can also run many other current gen games like Half-Life 2 and Prey. :)
PS: I've been to Utrecht & Dordrecht a few years ago when visiting relatives in Holland, so I'm really interested in playing this game to see the level design. :)

What do you mean by "it is caused by missing ogrefiles"? I do not have a clue why these errors occur, so if you do, please let me know!

If it freezes, then you will probably see an error when alt-tabbing. Is this so and if it is, what error is it?
Woah! This is really fun. Simple and addictive. It's kinda fun watching yourself paint the entire town to your own masterpiece.
One problem, though. I've been glitched into certain things, twice. One was in one of the fences, I was glitched inside it, but got loose. Next time I wasn't so lucky and just quit.
Still is a fun game, though. Nice work. I hope to see more fun games from you soon! :D

It won't let me alt-tab. It completely freezes my computer.
