PIX and Vertex Buffer visualization

Does anyone know if there's any way to actually visualize the data contained in a vertex buffer through pix, beyond a grid-like view of the data? A 3D view that either uses the vertex colors or hell, even a plain white color. If not, does anyone know how one might write a plugin for Pix? I heard ATI made a plugin for it but upon looking around I never really saw anything on the subject, leading me to believe Microsoft doesn't freely distribute the means to make plugins. At the moment, I'm reduced to copying the contents out of the grid view into my own program and having it render that. but it's a tedious process. Any information will be appreciated =)
