OK I surrender - attachments
OK I surrender, I'll use already existing ms3d loader because milkshape format looks quite nice... can you recommend me some, because there is alot of ms3d loaders around. and my second question - how to make easy attaching stuff (weapons etc) to joint, so my character would hold a sword or some gun in his hand?
Would that work if I'll define for my model "attachment point" which would be offset from joint in that model and just draw the attachment with that joint's rotation?
I dunno for sure if this would work, as I have never implemented animations yet, but I think it should:
You could just put an extra bone into the mesh as an attachment "joint". That bone would then only be used for the item held in the hand for example. I´d rather use a bone instead of a point because I would want to be in control of the orientation of the item attached.
I think your idea should work, too, but leaves you with less control.
