Angular Velocity, Quaternion stuff

I have an Angular velocity stored as a Quaternions, and everything seems to be working great, but now I need to add stabliztaion, is there anyway I can 'read back' the amount of rotation in the velocity quaternion on a givin axis (say the vectors the ship is oriented on). Or perhapes a way to just 'multiply' the current total amount of rotation by a decimal to decay it? Say if the ship is rotating upwards, and I want the stablaizer to stop the ship, it would find the amount of rotation of the ship and use the thrusters for that axis to slow it down till it stops, is this possible? If its not is there a simpler way to do this that I didn't think of, cause I have a habbit of over thinking things. thanks. [Edited by - AlgorithmX2 on July 2, 2006 7:12:21 PM]
