Could someone throw some light on yaw pitch and roll? what exactly do these angles mean and what is the reference with which they are measured?

Yaw is the rotation around the y-axis. Pitch is the rotation around x axis and Roll is the rotation around z axis. As for the frame of reference it is usually the objects local co-ordinate system however it needn't be so. For ex, a FPS camera would yaw, pitch and roll around its local axis while a third person camera would probably yaw and pitch around its target (although strictly it's upto the developer to decide on the suitability of these terms to his/her system).
