I''m trying to display some text while displaying my 3D world in the background. I did something like: gluPerspective(etc); // display world glBegin... glVertex3f(stuff); etc... glEnd... // try to display a caracter glBegin(GL_QUADS); glVertex2i(blah); glTexCoord2f(etc); glEnd... this doesn''t work for me. the only way I found to display text in my window is to completely kill my 3d world and display 2d stuff: gluOrtho2d(stuff); glBegin(stuff); glVertex........ glEnd... How can I do the two at the same time? displaying my world + the 2d stuff?? I know that YOU (yes, you, the one who''s reading this right now) know the answer. - flisk

gluPerspective(etc);
// display world
glBegin...
glVertex3f(stuff);
etc...
glEnd...

gluOrtho2d(stuff);
glBegin(stuff);
glVertex........
glEnd...

if u mean drawing text that say floats above a persons head u wanna have a search for billboarding
