I now this may sound n00bish, but Google just seems to get me lots of irrelevant stuff, and MFC stuff which I don't do. How would you enumerate the disk drives of a system with the Win32 API, and get some info about them (whether it's CD, harddrive, floppy, etc...)? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Google might not help you if you don't know what to search, but MSDN1 is going to help.

To answer your specific question, I think you are looking for GetLogicalDrives. The whole volume management Win32 API subsystem might also be of interrest.

1: Each time I want to connect to the MSDN web site, I am redirected to the French version of the site. It kills me.
