Collisions... or am I trying the wrong thing?

Working on a simple Blitz3D game, with a small world, terrain, whatever, and a kind of Mario-ish character. I have floating spheres around the 'world', and I want text displayed at the top of the screen if the Mario-thing runs into, (collides?), with the spheres. I'm doing collisions, but nothings working out exactly as such... Does ImagesOverlap work in Blitz3D?
