3D mipmaps

is it posible to have mipmaps of 3D texture not of entire texture but only of texture slices. Eg. base texture : 256x256x256 .. mipmaps 128x128x128, 64x64x64... but for each slice: base : 256x256x256 .. mipmaps 128x128x256,64x64x256 . Is it posible? i have serious texturing problem .. i acces 3D texture 4 times in shader, but i only want slices of this 3D texture. So i can only use NEAREST or LINEAR(slower) filtering BILINEAR or TRILINEAR(standard mipmaps,faster) makes atrifacts.

The GL_MESAX_texture_stack is exactly what you are asking for. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be supported on any card. I think you will have to settle for multiple 2d textures. [depressed]

EDIT: It seems it's not supported anywhere because it isn't completed yet. I hope it is eventually.
