how many animationsets can 'ID3DXAnimationController' support?

I use the function 'ID3DXAnimationController::GetMaxNumAnimationSets' in my code .I found the return value is six. but I also found that I could get more than six animationsets through 'GetAnimationSet()' function.and I could also select one animationset ,put it on track 0 and play it. I am confused.why the GetMaxNumAnimationSets() return six but I can get more than six animationsets and play them. how many animationsets can 'ID3DXAnimationController' actually manage ? using Directx 9b! thanks in advances!
