I am thinking of taking up game designing and I wondering what programs will be needed for game designing .

libraries for the compiler
photo editing program
3d modeler(if you plan on making a 3d game)
game engine (you can write your own or take advantage of one of the many open source engines that already exist)
in addition, if you decide to write your own game engine, there may be a few tools you'll need to write yourself, such as level editors.

It sort of depends what you really want to do. I answered a similar question recently, so the replies to that thread will probably be of some use to you.

i think game engine is the most important.
but it ll take a long time to write one by your own,use the free i suggest.
