I'm new to lower level windows programming, having been spoiled by MFC. I'm actually using the Ada language, but the bindings are essentially the same, so I'll be just as grateful for answers in C. It's as simple as this: Simple buttons and list boxes are no problem. However when I add certain controls to the resource, i.e. sliders, the dialog fails to create. I'm betting it's something simple, but google wasn't much help.

Ahh I did a Windows file search for that name (a word or phrase in the file) in the Ada Win32 bindings directory before I posted this and Windows doesn't find it.

Then I poked around and I found where InitCommonControls is. I don't trust Windows file search at all now! I repeated the search and confirmed that it doesn't find it! I've heard that MS messed up default search settings in XP, and that you can fix it by changing some settings.

Anyway I inserted a call to InitCommonControls and now I have my slider! Thanks for the help!
