Device Material

Hi guys Can any body tell me is it possible to remove the material from the device I am working on Managed DirectX........ what i know is by default the material is assign to the device and we can not remove it .........comments plz thx in advance

No, there has to be a material assigned. You can use the SetMaterial() member of the device to change it though. You might want to make a material that has full white for all colours except emmisive, and full black for that. That'll give you a "normal" material, what you'd probably expect.

The material determines how everything looks, without it the device wouldn't be able to render anything.

Another possibility is to use the programmable pipeline (shaders), this way you can define precisely what a "material" consists of.
