OpenGL Opengl Fixed Func Lighting

hi all , i'm wondering if opengl fixed func pipeline transform normals automatically with the matrix specified by GL_MODELVIEW cause when i render my mesh , i've a lightDir that is variable and when the lightDir moves , the light change accordingly on the mesh , but when i move the mesh , the mesh has no change in lighting... thanx for your answers in advance...

sorry guys i've simply read the opengl faq and, it's now okay, in fact we must call glLight before setting the orientation of the mesh (before glPushMatrix)
