If you read the For Beginners Forum FAQ you'll find that we don't allow this type of thread - the reason being that they tend to start arguments, and the answers given will be of little value to you.

Which API is easier comes down to personal preference and preferred style, and which is 'more powerful' is largely a result of how your specific project implements your chosen API and what you require of it.


I suggest looking at some free beginner resources for each, perhaps trying out a bit of sample code and making your own decision. You could also consider trying out SDL, which is intended to be easier to learn and use.
