spinning round an object using gluLookAt

Hello, I was hoping someone could tell me the trig functions I need to use to spin around a scene. Basically I want to spin around 1 building with other buildings aound it. I'm using gluLookAt as a camera (I'm sure you know what I mean), I want to spin around the building, right now I'm using an array to set the position, however I'm sure I can use trig functions for x and z pos, rather than a huge array. Can anyone advise.
