Hi, I'm working on a little project of mine. I'm having problems with seperating the design from the implementation. I mean, where do I start thinking about when to load game resources (like images files, 3d models, etc..) ? Should I create use cases for these cases also ? (Now I have only use cases which not describes the "how" only the "what") If someone could give me a good tip or refer me to a good tutorial/book I'll be gratefull. thx.

I got "3d game engine architecture" by david H. Eberly. It deals with the problems of what should go where when designing an engine.

Greetings.

I would break it up into basic images (menus image, splash screens images and other images for buttons and the mouse) right after you get your screen initilized. That way you can get to the game menu quickly with out sitting for a few minutes as things load.

Then load the rest of the images based on what the player choices from the game menu. I hope that answers the question you asked.
