Anyone had any experience optimising Cal3D rendering?? I've ripped the rendering straight from the example in the docs using my own engine. Problem is, that there are quite a few nested loops in this particular algorithm which loop though a couple of hundred times * the number the meshes there are, so it's quite slow. any ideas?

my engine is dx9, totally shader based. however, I'm currently only using the VS/PS to draw the verts I'm getting back from Cal3D's getVertices/getFaces routines. The cal3d examples manage to get decent performance using that method so I figure I should be able to?
