GPU utilization and GPU memory usage

I know that opengl doesn't have any builtin function for it, but does anyone know if there are some extensions or some nvidia sdk that can retrieve those values ?

I think this is what you are looking for :

NVPerfKit

Note that this works only for nVidia cards.
