What type of lighting should i use?

This is the main character from a game I am working on and I want the same look in realtime. I am using opengl, currently, and will be mixing static and dynamic lighting into the game engine. Any suggestions on the type of lighting I should use or sample tutorials/demos/code would be appreciated.

Thanks for the complement honayboyz, he is one of my favorite characters to work on. I want dynamic lighting and soft shadows. That being said I want the result to look similar to the image posted. Ambient occlusion is looking good for static object in my game( dont have many static objects ), but in my game lighting conditions can change often and from what I see online ambient occlusion is for static scenes. Is there some realtime lighting style that will give me that soft lighting or something similar?
