How to create materials?

Hi, I'm using MDX for my simple HDR demo. Right now I'm using shaders (HLSL) from "HDRFormats" DX SDK sample to generate my scene, where model color and reflectivity are defined. How can I create different materials like marble, wood, metal, glass etc? I guess I need a texture of a material (probably not for glass), some basic variables that define look of a material and a general lighting equation that uses these variables. Is there somewhere a list that defines necessary parameters for some basic materials? [Edited by - g0nzo on September 15, 2006 5:36:25 AM]

Download RenderMonkey from ATI, It contains a good lot of examples of the things u mention including the HLSL code required.

All the best,
