Colored Edges or Lines in direct3d

I am using MDX direct3d. I was wondering what would be the best way to render colored edges or lines? I used the Line class, but I was having problems getting them to propagate into the z direction. What I am doing is creating an axis tripod for my application. Right now I am using a LineList and the tripod looks good, but what I really want is each axis to be a different color. Any suggestions, ideas, or thoughts? thanks!

Well the the LineList primitive is created from a CustomVertex.PositionColored[].
This currently only has a Color attribute.

If you have any suggestions to use something else that has a diffuse attribute/member then I would use that.

Yeah that's what I was talking about, change the Color attribute of the vertices and the lines will also change color. Just make sure lighting is turned off.
