Maya 8.0 DirectX .exporter

The DirectX SDK (August 2006) includes a plugin for exporting Maya 7.0 models to the .x format. The binary distribution of the plugin does not work with Maya 8, but you can build the plugin from the source distribution ($ProgramFiles\Microsoft DirectX SDK (August 2006)\Utilities\Source\Maya) and link to the Maya 8.0 libraries ($ProgramFiles\Alias\Maya8.0\lib), and it will work (Atleast with static meshes). http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=383794 explains how to install the plugin once you've built it.
