Make games, not engines.

Engines that are actually decent (being generic, reusable, robust) take a lot of experience to effectively design and implement. With the amount of experience you have, you'll probably end up with something is niether generic, nor robust, nor particularly reusable without extensive modification.

Instead you should just focus on making games, something that produces an actual result. You really can't make an engine without making a game anyway. As you produce some games, you eventually recognize the areas that can be made common and pull them out. Eventually this will yield you some kind of "engine" -- certainly not one on the level of, say, Unreal or event Irrlicht, but it will be a start.
