Tutorial on how to draw real sprites??

Hey I never get impressed of the results from all sprite/tile tutorials on the net. I want to learn how to draw good looking sprites ala Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Mega man etc.. any books or online tutorials to recommand?

Well first you need a good artist. There shouldn't be any problems with any of the tutorials on the web they all draw the sprites as well as the artist has drawn them.

[/quote]However -- if you want to put a minimal effort into helping yourself find the tutorial in question, a Google search for the title of the tutorial appears to produce pages of results which are all mirrors of the same material.

Having used it myself, I gotta say that it's an excellent resource for people interested in doing low-resolution sprite art. However, now that even 640x480 is considered low-resolution, it's probably much more effective to use pre-rendered sprites like in old-school PC games. (Starcraft, Diablo, etc.) You model the sprite once, animate it once, then you can generate frames in all directions with as many keyframes as you want. Takes some work setting it up (you want the camera and the light to be positioned at the same place for all renders, for example) but it's no big deal.
