hey guys I was puttering around with some code from tom millers book, "Beginning 3d game programming". In particular, I was working on a project using pixel shader 2.0, and I noticed that my cpu was running at 100%. I was getting around 200 fps at full screen (1280 by 1024), and it runs super smooth. Im just worried that its damaging my cpu or something. Is this something that i should worry about? my rig: p4 2.8 ghz, 1 gig ddr400 ram, radeon x1300 with 512 ram. thanks much -andrew

No -- the CPU is built for maximum power; if it wouldn't give 100% performance something would be wrong. Unless you are building a non-exclusive game (i.e. that runs next to other applications) it is a good thing that the game sucks up as much CPU time as it can get. For a fullscreen game there is no way the user wants to do other things at the same time so anything less than 100% would be a waste.

Greetz,

Illco
