I need to write a user interface for a C++ program and was just wondering if there is a better way than Microsoft's api. If it was $1000 cheaper, I'd use C++ Builder, but I'm making freeware. Any idea's?

I think there's to much blood in my caffeine system.

If you don't mind the overhead .Net is a decent platform to work with, and you can get Visual Studio 2005 Express for free.
