I disagree. Many video games require music, and why not get it from a decent library. I think the existing (sticky) list of music and sfx providers needs some updating, as there are some high quality libraries with good stuff out there. Film-TV tracks is OK, but you may wish to check out some other libraries with some diversity, for example:

Productiontrax.com has over 13,000 music and sound effects from over 400 different libraries and providers in one place (including tracks from some of the bigger names in the royalty free sector). They have 2 license options, so if you're not going commercial, you can get some huge discounts by taking their not-for-profit option, or by downloading entire collections.

Stock20.com has a bunch of soundtrack music, and every track is priced to sell at $7. They have a new economically priced 7-CD set (I think) that has some good stuff on it, and they come out with new stuff every month.

BBM.net has a large collection of loops and phrases that can easily be re-assembled in a gaming environment, but you have to check their license agreement to see what you can use the libraries for.

Personally, I like the sites with instant downloads because you can test it out right there, and you can use the music without paying pricey composer fees. If you've got the budget, then you can find stuff you like, and have your composer match his stuff to the temp stuff you downloaded -- saves everyone time and headaches.

Just my 2 cents.

Agreed... despite the glut of 'I'm a musician, listen to my samples' posts, this isn't an advertisement board for musicians, but a forum to discuss music and sound for games. Obviously being able to purchase stock tracks and sounds is a potential part of that.

There's an argument that this thread should have gone in Your Announcements... but then the same could be argued of the threads asking people for feedback on their latest tunes too.
