So a couple of my friends has started one man company developing web pages for other people, they seem to earn good money. Work in the house, no boss, they seem to be pretty happy. When ask how do they do it, only silent grins come back. My question is: 1. Where do they source for customers? Is there a web site where I can bid for projects? 2. What kind of typical web sites they usually construct? Would SQL, PHP, and HTML be generally enough? Thanks

1) I'm sure there are more, but you might find some interesting stuff at Rent-A-Coder
2) SQL, PHP and HTML would be a good start. I'd personally suggest that you also familiarize yourself with ASP.Net, CSS (for sure) and maybe Flash as well. Also, you might consider getting familiar with a couple of the different flavors of SQL dbs (MySQL, MSSQL, etc). Should be pretty easy to pick up and will give you a better base to go off of.
