OpenGL Rotation similar to wings

I'm relatively new to Opengl, and I have been trying to implment a rotation about a model similar to the rotation in wings3d. I have tried implementing it using spherical coordinates and gluLookAt, but that doesnt provide satisfactory results. I don't know what else to try to achieve the same results. Thanks

sounds like youre trying to make a 3rd person chase cam for a flight sim...
could be wrong though

can you explain just what about it is not satisfactory?
what you want, versus what you have?
many people have not played wings3d so have no idea what you mean by that

I'm going to guess though... that you need springs, let the camera lag behind the airplane when direction changes suddenly, but get pulled back into position...
