snake

Recommended Posts

I'm a beginner and trying to make "snake". How would you recommend making the graphic for the actual snake. I already have directX but I don't know whether to put a texture on top of triangles or do a mesh or what(not even really sure what a mesh is or if its useful) Thanks using Visual C# 2005 express

you wanna make a 2d or 3d game?

this is a mesh:

its a 3d shape represented by triangles, and when its drawn in wireframe it resembles a "mesh"

ooh, pretty. Thanks for explaining that.

I'm just going to start with 2D for now. Hopefully when I get better I can move up to 3D stuff.

What you want to do is to use directX's Sprite interface. I don't know much about C# but I think you have something like a directx.sprite class. Then you want to load a texture of a ball with an alpha channel and render your snake using the sprite object and the texture. You simply need to render your sprite one time for each part of the snake. This is the way to go to do a snake composed of balls.

Hope I could help
